Cleaning of HVAC systems after fire damage

Purpose

An HVAC system may be contaminated with soot after a fire. To restore a clean living and working environment, this contamination needs to be removed before restarting the HVAC system. With our expertise, we are able to sample your HVAC system quickly, clean it if necessary and issue approval mark for it.

Execution

In the event of fire damage, you can reach us 24 hours a day on our general telephone number, after which we will immediately travel to the damage locations with our laboratory van, decontamination unit and project manager. We will then sample the HVAC system and take stock of the work needed. The decontamination unit and laboratory will be set up as close as possible to the HVAC system that must be cleaned. Our inspectors will determine the extent of soot contamination by means of various samples taken at different places in the system. Based on this sampling, we will produce a plan of action in consultation with the customer. A possibility exists for you to perform the sampling and only use our equipment and laboratory.

The cleaning plan will be submitted to you for approval. After approval an immediate start will be made on the cleaning work.

This work may include:

-           precision cleaning of the air conditioning units

-           fitting of inspection hatches in the air ducts

-           precision cleaning of the air ducts

-           impregnating the internal insulation in the HVAC system where necessary

-           precision cleaning of the induction units/ventilator convectors

-           precision cleaning of the air-cooled heat exchangers.

Our engineers will perform this work in disposable overalls and will change clothes during the breaks in our own decontamination unit. This is essential to prevent soot from moving to clean rooms.

On completion of the work we will take samples. Our mobile laboratory will test the samples for any residual soot particles. The samples will be stored in locked storerooms but will be available to the customer at any time for the performance of a second opinion test. After approval of the samples, a approval mark will be issued.
